Lidwien Schuitemaker
Lidwien Schuitemaker is afkomstig uit Eindhoven. Zij is afgestudeerd andragologe en filosofe en heeft een diploma behaald als graficus. Tijdens haar studies aan de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen ontdekte zij dat de regels en criteria die in beeldende kunsten gehanteerd worden zonder fundament zijn. Daarom besloot zij zelf deze kunsttak filoso-fisch en praktisch te onderzoeken. Resultaten van dit onderzoek staan beschreven in het boek Beeldende Kunst Filosofie, dat verschenen is ter afsluiting van een vierjarig promotieonderzoek aan de universiteit van Leiden. Lidwien Schuitemaker is werkzaam als filosofisch onder-zoekster en graficus en is lid van verschillende vakverenigingen. Zij onderzoekt de materialiteit van het denken theoretisch en via praktisch vormonderzoek en haar werk wordt gekenmerkt door streven naar eenvoud.
Lidwien Schuitemaker is born in Eindhoven in the Netherlands. She graduated in the social sciences and philosophy and has a diploma as graphic artist. During her studies at the University of Groningen, she discovered that the rules and criteria that are used in the visual arts, have no foundation. Therefore, she decided to explore this field of art herself, philosophically and practically. These experiences she has applied during a four-year period of dissertation research at the University of Leiden. As a result of this research, the book Beeldende Kunst Filosofie (Visual Art Philosophy) was published, in which her conviction that there are no fixed criteria’s and rules in the visual arts, is developed philosophically. Lidwien Schuitemaker is a researcher in philosophy, a graphic artist and member of various professional societies. She examines the materiality of thinking theoretically and by means of practical form research. Her work can be characterized by the strive for simpleness.
